Literally translated, “Wu” means military, “Shu” means art. Wushu therefore means the art of fighting, or martial arts. In Bedok Town Secondary School, we have a very active and committed group of Wushu members who train relentlessly for National Inter-School Wushu competitions as well as school performances. The Club aims to : provide opportunities for students to know Chinese culture and language; improve students’ agility, physical ability and co-ordination; build determination, confidence, learning & analytical ability; build leadership capability and team spirit among fellow teammates; gain exposure through competition and performance. | | Achievements | A superb performance by our students has earned us a GOLD award and the FOURTH position in the National Inter-School Wushu Competition 2007. Our Secondary 3 student, Sherilyn Oh, went on to take part in the National Wushu Championships 2007. She took part in the Nanquan event in the Adult Division. She competed with more seasoned and experienced competitors and her hard work paid off! She did the school proud as she walked away with a Silver Medal! The interest shown by our club members has been very encouraging. They take the tough and often demanding training in their stride and in good spirit. They are ever ready to take up more challenges in future. |
